Sagrada Studio completed the interior decoration of this 6,600-square-foot new-build residence in Austin, Texas. After beginning the decorating process, the clients engaged the studio to help translate their point of view into a cohesive home that reflected their Indian heritage, love of strong color, and preference for modern silhouettes.

The scope included wallcoverings, decorative lighting, artwork, furnishings, custom upholstery, window treatments, and soft goods throughout the residence. What began with one space gradually expanded across the home, with the work unfolding over several years and around major family milestones, including the arrival of a new baby and the completion of the main floor in time for a 40th birthday celebration.

The design balances the home’s modern architecture with saturated jewel tones, contemporary art, patterned textiles, and antique carved wood elements from India. Cultural references were incorporated through pieces with history and personal resonance, including a 19th-century Indian embroidered textile in the office, an antique teak entry gate salvaged from a haveli in Gujarat, and carved Indian lintels installed above the bar doorways.

Original works by Trishla Jain and Monica Delgado are layered alongside custom furnishings, including a blue velvet chaise, footstools upholstered in Brunschwig & Fils fabric, and an entry bench designed by Sagrada Studio, fabricated in Austin, and upholstered in Pierre Frey.

The result is a layered, art-filled Austin residence that brings the clients’ cultural heritage and contemporary lifestyle together within a distinctive and highly personal family home.
