Commercial Interior Design | Retail Build-Out + Spatial Reconfiguration

Designer: Hema Persad, Sagrada Studio

Sagrada Studio transformed a former smog shop waiting room into Kynah's flagship Indian bridal boutique in Santa Monica, California, reimagined as a contemporary retail environment grounded in a bohemian California sensibility.

The project included a full retail build-out with new flooring throughout, complete spatial reconfiguration, and the introduction of purpose-built retail infrastructure to support merchandising, circulation, and client experience.

Architectural interventions included custom dressing rooms framed with arches, integrated retail display systems, and bespoke garment racks designed to balance functionality with a light, sculptural presence. These elements were designed to create a fluid customer journey from entry through consultation and fitting.

A custom hanging pampas installation anchors the main space, acting as a sculptural focal point that reinforces the boutique’s organic, ceremonial atmosphere. The material palette combines cement, jute, and marble to create a balance between raw texture and refined finish, maintaining a coastal, natural sensibility throughout.

The result is a fully reimagined retail environment that blends Indian bridal tradition with a contemporary California design language, creating an immersive and elevated boutique experience.
