Residential Interior Design | Full First-Floor Renovation + Primary Bathroom
Designer: Hema Persad, Sagrada Studio
Featured in Architectural Digest, March 2023 Print Issue
Sagrada Studio led the full renovation of the first floor of this Culver City residence for actress Poorna Jagannathan, including a complete reconfiguration of the floor plan and the design of a new upstairs primary bathroom.
The project focused on improving flow, increasing functionality, and strengthening the connection between interior spaces and the outdoors. Key architectural interventions included opening up the kitchen, relocating the laundry room and an existing bathroom, and creating a new bedroom for the family’s teenage son within the restructured layout.
The interior design draws from the client’s Indian heritage and extensive collection of artwork, textiles, and cultural artifacts. These personal references informed a layered design language that balances color, pattern, and materiality while complementing the home’s industrial architectural framework. The result is a highly personalized family home that enhances livability, honors cultural identity, and brings greater cohesion between architecture, function, and personal expression.
